Holding on to unforgiveness chains your heart, but releasing it opens the door to peace, healing, and freedom in Christ.
Heavenly Father,
I come to You with a burden I’ve carried too long. There’s pain in my heart caused by what others have done — and I’ve struggled to let it go. The truth is, part of me wants to hold on. But I know that unforgiveness is a prison that keeps me from living in Your freedom.
Lord, I confess that I’ve allowed bitterness and resentment to grow. I’ve replayed the hurt and tried to protect myself by building walls. But You’re calling me higher. You’re calling me to forgive, just as I’ve been forgiven.
I release the offense to You. I surrender my right to stay angry. I place the hurt, the betrayal, the injustice — all of it — into Your righteous hands. You are the Judge. You are the Healer. And You can do more with this pain than I ever could.
Help me to forgive — not by my own strength, but by the power of Your Spirit. I choose forgiveness, even if my feelings take time to catch up. Let Your love flow through me so deeply that I can bless those who’ve wronged me.
Thank You for forgiving me over and over. Let that same mercy live in me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
